A whole bunch of us spent the day waiting, practicing bad math skills, wondering what 5pm PT meant, and finally around 8pm ET, some of us hit on the right equation and tuned in just in time to see Dave Castro announce this year’s 13.1 workout, the first workout of the highly anticipated 2013 CrossFit Open. I was so excited that I forgot that Hemingway tried to teach me to write with short sentences. Oh well. This fitness and muscle stuff is much more fun. Yeah?
So, in a sheer act of metabolic gluttony, CrossFit HQ decided on this workout:
- 40 Burpees
- 30 Snatches @ 75lbs
- 30 Burpees
- 30 Snatches @ 135lbs
- 20 Burpees
- 30 Snatches @ 165lbs
- 10 Burpees
- AMRAP Snatches @ 210lbs
Oh, and to add to the deadliness of the sin, you have 17 minutes to complete the sequence.
If you tuned in to the online stream, generously provided by the 2013 CrossFit Games, you got to see Dan Bailey, CrossFit Mayhem, and Scott Panchik, CrossFit Distinction, duel it out in classic head cutting style. (Guitar lingo, sorry.)
If you are registered for the 2013 Open, you have until Sunday to submit your unedited video. Details are available from the CrossFit Games site. If you crave muse-like inspiration, here is a video of Julie Foucher demonstrating 13.1.
